fediverse question, monsterpit
Is anyone having an issue where *some* Monsterpit posts don't federate to them? I've had this a couple times over the last day, and just confirmed that I got the first post in a thread, and a later post in that thread, but not an intermediate post in my timeline. 😕
(They were unlisted, so I *can* pull the intermediate post by ID, but it's odd that it didn't get pushed to my timeline.)
I neither use nor advertise IPv6 on this server.
I can't be the only one who finds the recent Western Digital (white) drive labels to be well-designed, can I? They're pretty nice, despite being something that basically nobody is ever expected to see. Clean typography, appropriate barcodes, clear labeling.
Anyway, kudos to whomever designed them, wherever you may be.
general safety, i swear
It appears IKEA scented tealight candles melt to about 130-140 F, which makes them reasonably safe to touch briefly, or if some spills onto you. I've yet to try the cheaper unscented ones.
In case anyone was wondering and didn't want to get wax on their thermometer.
(This did in fact start from innocent wondering, but let me tell you that you end up with some interesting results if you try to search for it. And still nobody with actual numbers that I could find.)
A Day Without Rain is a pretty good album.
@gdkar Okay, commercial egg nog plus Kahlua per your suggestion is... better than it has any right to be. Huh.
cw request, subposty
Please tag your subposts.
Your timeline is not my timeline. It's a lot of work to try to reverse engineer your post to try to understand what you're saying, only to figure out that you're snarking at something you saw and don't want to point to.
(I want to understand what you're saying! If you don't send me in the right direction, I won't, but at least if I read something I know is a subpost and I don't get it, I know I can leave it alone.)
hot take and/or tech grumble and/or complaining about jerks
Script kiddies using the latest prepackaged "spam deauths to everyone" tool in a handheld form factor are not fundamentally different from people discovering spark-gap transmitters and deciding to see how many people they can inconvenience.
Sure, "eff the man" has its place, but that sentence doesn't end "and everyone else anywhere nearby".
(I believe this has been the case for a while, possibly back to around Unicode 10 when "person" was introduced, but it's somewhat surprising to see that it's *still* the case, lo these many years.)
The Twitter Twemoji (12.1.3) emoji for "people holding hands" (explicitly not gender-specific) is identical to that of "man and woman holding hands". Hrm. (They do have "person", which is its own non-gendered drawing, just not a pair holding hands.)

Met a gentleman who expressed concern that someone else "might be one of those liberals who didn't like hot dogs because they're bad for the environment or something". Shortly thereafter, he revealed he felt people were bad if they didn't properly sort their recyclables.
Takes all kinds, huh?
I appreciate that @LadyMargaret stays on top of new emoji proposals and I don't even have to do anything for the interesting ones to just show up in front of me.
