Your timeline is not my timeline. It's a lot of work to try to reverse engineer your post to try to understand what you're saying, only to figure out that you're snarking at something you saw and don't want to point to.
(I want to understand what you're saying! If you don't send me in the right direction, I won't, but at least if I read something I know is a subpost and I don't get it, I know I can leave it alone.)

Script kiddies using the latest prepackaged "spam deauths to everyone" tool in a handheld form factor are not fundamentally different from people discovering spark-gap transmitters and deciding to see how many people they can inconvenience.
Sure, "eff the man" has its place, but that sentence doesn't end "and everyone else anywhere nearby".
(I believe this has been the case for a while, possibly back to around Unicode 10 when "person" was introduced, but it's somewhat surprising to see that it's *still* the case, lo these many years.)
The Twitter Twemoji (12.1.3) emoji for "people holding hands" (explicitly not gender-specific) is identical to that of "man and woman holding hands". Hrm. (They do have "person", which is its own non-gendered drawing, just not a pair holding hands.)

Met a gentleman who expressed concern that someone else "might be one of those liberals who didn't like hot dogs because they're bad for the environment or something". Shortly thereafter, he revealed he felt people were bad if they didn't properly sort their recyclables.
Takes all kinds, huh?
It looks like a Raspberry Pi Zero W can still connect to my WiFi from within a multi-switch gang box. Hmm.
*eyes Hue lights*
(I'm a little iffy on it because there's a reasonably high number of retries, but it's at least a plausible way to hook up "actual" light switches to my lights.)
It has come to the point where I'm eyeballing how many gallon bags I need to store my USB cable collection. 😐
(It needed repackaging. Ended up with three gallon bags and a quart, but one of the gallon bags is slight overkill. There's a chance I have a sufficient number of "regular" USB cables.)

Peter Schilling's "Major Tom" has a lyric:
Across the stratosphere
a final message
give my wife my love
then nothing more
And I'm reasonably sure it's "'Give my wife my love', and then nothing more is heard", which makes sense given the song.
Sometimes I just hear it like a bitter swipe from the poor major: "Give my wife my love, but she gets nothing else.".
Why am I using ddrescue on a MECC sampler CD from 1994? I couldn't rightly say.
unicode question(s?) Show more
@LadyMargaret I think(?) there's a way to represent "woman" or "man" as used in combining emoji as a single non-emoji glyph in Unicode. (Do you remember what that was? VS15... before it?)
My real question, though, is whether there is a way to represent "flag combining letter" (e.g. C or A in 🇨🇦) as a non-emoji. Do you know if there is, and if so, how?
(Sorry, I should be able to look this up, but I don't know how off the top of my head. If not I'll dig through the books.)

I have no idea why *this* is what I noticed from tonight's comic, but it's interesting that Sam's mental lightbulb:
* is a downlight (only emits light in the "down" direction, although sometimes that's actually a different angle)
* has an E27 base (which made me look up where QC is set: Northampton, MA) (mostly because I thought maybe Canada somehow, which has a lot of GU10 downlights)
(I suspect this was Jeph aiming for an LED bulb, which that probably is, being too blue for most halogens.)
This is a personal Mastodon instance.
